Morgan Stanley Owns Large Amount Of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust Shares

U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) filings show that the American banking giant Morgan Stanley holds a big chunk of shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC).
A pseudonymous market analyst MacroScope reported that Morgan Stanley owns large amounts distributed into multiple portfolios.
According to the SEC files, 30 funds from Morgan Stanley hold large amounts of GBTC shares. The largest is Morgan’s Insight Fund, which holds 928,051 GBTC, worth approximately $36 million.
Aside from this, several funds also contain GBTC. Among these are the Morgan Stanley Variable Insurance Fund, Morgan Stanley Institutional Fund Inc, the Morgan Stanley Institutional Trust.
The event didn’t really come as a surprise. Back in June, the analyst tweeted:
“In coming weeks, I expect to see multiple Morgan Stanley funds report new positions in Grayscale Bitcoin.”
Other major institutions have also been starting to pour into crypto investments, such as business intelligence and IT company MicroStrategy and electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla.
