Crypto.com Hires Ex-Visa Country Manager To Head Korea Operations

Crypto.com announced that Patrick Yoon, former country manager at Visa Korea and Mongolia, has been appointed as the general manager for South Korea.

According to Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek, Yoon’s experience in the country will help the crypto exchange reach “new heights.”

Yoon worked worked at Visa for three years, during which he was working with regulatory bodies and other financial institutions.

Before joining Visa, Yoon was making a career at Standard Chartered Bank in South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

Through its app Crypto.com offers trading, lending, and payment services, and also a Visa card to users who stake its native token, CRO, for more than 180 days.

Crypto.com has grown 5x to 10 million users in just 12 months time. Spending on the Crypto.com Visa card grew by 55% in 2020, the company announced in March.

Crypto.com hired ex-Spotify Executive Henrik Johansson to lead its growth operations in August. Johansson has a target to to reach 100 million users in two years time.

Crypto exchanges operating in South Korea are struggling to meet new strict rules by September regulatory deadline.
