LinkedIn: Crypto-Related Job Ads Increased 400% During The Last Year
According to LinkedIn, the leading social networking site for professionals, the number of job ads for digital asset related positions exploded during 2021.
“Job postings with titles containing terms like “bitcoin,” “ethereum,” “blockchain” and “cryptocurrency” grew 395% in the U.S. from 2020 to 2021, outpacing the wider tech industry — which saw a 98% increase in listings during the same time period.”
Majority of advertised job positions were in software and finance. However, other industries – such as professional services like accounting and consulting, as well as the staffing and computer hardware sectors – are also seeing an increased in demand for crypto talent, according to the article.
In July, Apple posted a job ad looking for Business Development Manager for Alternative Payments, with experience in several fields including crypto. In the same month retail giant Amazon was looking for a Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead.
The following month Walmart was hiring Digital Currency and Cryptocurrency Product Lead, who job description included developing the Digital Currency strategy and product roadmap for the retail giant.
In September Moody’s credit agency advertised a job post for a Crypto Analyst, with understanding in DeFi.
According to a survey of 27 crypto firms the headcount increased in total more than 8,400 people in the last year, with an average of over 300 people for each surveyed company. Expectedly, exchanges and investment-oriented companies were in the lead of the growth.
