Alphabet CEO Pichai: Google Sees A Lot Of Potential For Blockchain And Web3

Sundar Pichai, Chief Executive Officer at Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc., said that he closely monitoring the blockchain industry and the Web3 universe; finding both “exciting” and saying that Google is focused on moving in that direction.
Pichai believes in the concept of Web3 and blockchain as a technology with a vision to revolutionize the internet. He shared his thoughts on Web3 and blockchain for the first time during Alphabet’s quarterly earnings call program on Tuesday. Interestingly, Pichai believes that Web3 is the phase of the emerging vision of the internet based on blockchain. He said:
“On Web3, we are definitely looking at blockchain. Web3 is an interesting and powerful technology with broad applications.”
According Pichai Google has plans become a key contributor to the newly emerging Web3 ecosystem. He also said they are more than ready to add an outstanding value to the Web3 space.
The Alphabet CEO believes that Google will be seen as an industry player in blockchain technology, especially for the cloud with the newly built digital asset team.
“One example, our Cloud team is looking at how they can support our customers’ needs in building, transacting, storing value, and deploying new products on blockchain-based platforms.”
Alphabet reported its fourth-quarter earnings per share (EPS) at $30.69. The company’s sales reached $75.3 billion, with revenue up 32%, exceeding its expectations of $27.68 EPS on sales of $72.3 billion.
