AMC Now Accepts Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE) As Payment

According to Adam Aron, the CEO of movie theater chain AMC is finally accepting Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE) as payment options.

Aron tweeted the news to his 243.1K followers that the AMC is adding the two dog-themed tokens to the list of cryptocurrencies it is currently accepting as methods of payment.

“Your replies just might break the internet, given your clear enthusiasm and interest in cryptocurrency. As promised, the AMC theaters website now accepts Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for online payments! A special shout out to BitPay for helping us to make this happen.”

AMC has been quite some time looked into adding DOGE and SHIB as payment methods.

End of October last year, Aron opened Twitter a poll asking his followers whether or not AMC should begin accepting SHIB as a payment option. Out of the 153,100 votes, an overwhelming majority of 81.4% were in favor for AMC accepting SHIB.

A month earlier, Aron conducted a similar poll asking if AMC should accept DOGE as payment as well. After over 68% of were in favor, AMC swiftly took action and allowed customers to load up gift cards with Dogecoin and use them to purchase select products just a few weeks later.

Now, both DOGE and SHIB are added to the the list of digital assets accepted by the cinema chain.

The cryptocurrencies that AMC was already accepting include: Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC).

At the time of writing, DOGE trades at $0.1158, down 0.8% on the daily, and SHIB trades at $0.00002214, down 2.09% on the daily time frame.
