Blockchain.com Raises New Funding With $14 Billion Valuation

A new funding round puts crypto exchange and financial services firm, Blockchain.com, at a $14 billion valuation.

The latest funding round to blockchain.com was led by the VC firm, Lightspeed Ventures, and Baillie Gifford & Co., which an early investor to growth stocks, such as Tesla, according to Bloomberg report.

While Blockchain.com or investors have not publicly announced the deal terms, according to reports the funding round saw the firm’s valuation increase more than $8 billion, from $5.2 billion to $14 billion.

The size of funding raised has also not been confirmed yet.

Founded in 2011, Blockchain.com is one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency companies. The company offers a wide range of blockchain-based financial services including its exchange platform, cryptocurrency wallets and certain institutional products. According to the company’s website they have 37 million verified users globally, with 82 million wallets created and more than $1 trillion transacted.

In March 2021, raised a $300 million Series C round at a $5.2 billion valuation – led by DST Global, Lightspeed Venture Partners and VY Capital.

Blockchain.com is among the companies withdrawing from the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) temporary register for cryptocurrency asset licensing and has decided to operate in Europe from a Lithuanian subsidiary. The company is likely looking to register its business in Lithuania, the US and Ireland instead. It is also seeking regulatory approval in Germany.
