JP Morgan Will Build A Payments R&D Facility In Athens

The Wall Street titan JP Morgan will launch a payments innovation centre in Athens as part of a broader expansion in Greece.
The bank aims to initially engage around 50 professionals in payments product development and engineering for the lab.
It will conduct research and development for the global payments industry, collaborating with JPMorgan’s Onyx subsidiary, which focuses on cutting-edge technology like as blockchain.
The center’s first focus will be on assisting the development of distributed ledger technology, artificial intelligence, and cryptography solutions for payment systems.
The lab will be placed in the firm’s new Athens headquarters, which will also house personnel from the firm’s corporate and investment banking and asset and wealth management departments.
JP Morgan Payments’ worldwide head, Takis Georgakopoulos, states:
“We want to stay at the apex of payments innovation, and our new location in Athens will be a key nerve centre for our cutting edge payments innovation work.”
