Square Collaborates With AmEx On Merchant Credit Cards

Square and American Express are launching a credit card designed particularly for Square retailers.
The first credit card Square gives to its small business customers will link directly with the company’s larger ecosystem, enabling merchants to organise their finances and control their cash flow from the same platform they use to operate their business.
The card will operate on the AmEx network, be powered by i2c, and be issued by Celtic Bank. It will be made available to Square vendors in the United States.
Luke Voiles, GM, Square Banking, says: “We wanted to create a product on a payment network that has a strong track record of supporting small merchants, making this card a natural progression of our existing relationship with American Express.”
