Orderlion Buys Supli To Broaden Its B2B Food And Beverage Platform

Two companies that make B2B software for the food and drink business are joining forces.
EU-Startups reported Wednesday that Austria’s Orderlion has bought France’s Supli (Dec. 7).
According to a report, the acquisition will allow Orderlion to use its software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering more in France’s business-to-business (B2B) food supply chain and speed up its plans to grow internationally.
With the purchase, Supli’s customers will be moved to Orderlion’s platform, and the company’s founders and employees will join the Austrian business.
“The acquisition of Supli is an important step in our strategy to expand our presence in Europe,” Orderlion CEO Stefan Strohmer said, per the report. “Supli has developed very innovative solutions that are complementary to our own offering, and we look forward to working with them to bring these benefits to more businesses across France.”
The report says that Orderlion’s eCommerce platform lets food and drink suppliers and wholesalers connect with customers like restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets.
The report said that it also allows digital order processing, upselling of new and seasonal products, digitizing the flow of payment processing, and increasing operational efficiency.
People in Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK use the Orderlion platform.
In the report, Romain Rousselet, the former founder and CEO of Supli, said, “From the beginning, we’ve seen how strongly aligned both our companies’ visions were, and we knew by combining our teams and technology platforms, we could significantly increase the value we bring to our customers.”
Millennials who know how to use technology well are moving into management roles where they can make buying decisions. This is causing a shift toward B2B eCommerce.
“The New Singularity,” a collaboration between PYMNTS and USEND, says that because they are used to digital payment and self-service, they have pretty much stopped using traditional ways to buy goods.
