ClearBank Hires Former Barclays Executive To Be Their CFO

After three years at M&G, Mark Fairless is moving to ClearBank to speed up the bank’s plans for growth.

Mark Fairless has been named the new chief financial officer of ClearBank (CFO).

Fairless will be in charge of the finance team at the clearing bank. He will also serve as an executive director on ClearBank’s UK board and as a member of the executive committee.

The bank said that he will be very important to its growth in the UK, Europe, and around the world.

Glen Lucken, who has been the bank’s interim CFO since June, hands the job over to him.

“I believe strongly in the potential of ClearBank to drive innovation within financial services, and of the significant opportunity that lies ahead. 2023 is set to be a hugely important period for the business,” Fairless said.

“I’ve joined at the perfect time and cannot wait to help ClearBank achieve its sizable ambitions.”

Fairless comes from M&G, where he was most recently CFO of the company’s heritage business.

He has worked in top positions at both Santander and Barclays, giving him more than 17 years of experience.

ClearBank started making money in 2022. It looks like 2023 will be a big year for the company, as it plans to roll out a new set of products and services and launch in Europe by the end of this year.

“Mark joins us at a truly exciting time for ClearBank, as we build on the achievements of 2022 and make progress on our growth ambitions for 2023,” ClearBank CEO Charles McManus said.

“Mark will bring a wealth of global knowledge, expertise, and experience to the ClearBank team that will be critical to our future success.”
