Celsius Wants To Give Customers More Time To Submit Claims

Celsius, a bankrupt cryptocurrency lender, wants to delay the deadline for creditors to report their due amount until early February rather than January 3.

According to a tweet Celsius sent late on Wednesday, the bankruptcy court managing the matter will hear the application to extend the deadline during a hearing on January 10. At the very least, the deadline for consumer claims is postponed until the hearing.

“Our goal is to provide account holders with additional time to file any proofs of claim,” Celsius added. Later this week, the business will submit a motion asking for a postponement of the bar date.

Following a market decline, Celsius filed for bankruptcy protection in July. In its petition, the distressed lender listed more than 100,000 creditors. During its popularity, Celsius claimed to have handled more than $10 billion in assets for over 1.7 million members.

Celsius also received a delay earlier this month, delaying the submission of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring plan until mid-February.
