CryptoSlam And Forkast.News Merge To Create Forkast Labs

Forkast Labs is a new media company that focuses on the web3. It was formed when data provider CryptoSlam and crypto news site Forkast.News joined forces.

A release said that the two companies, owned by the large software investment firm Animoca Brands, will build data tools, indices, and methods for valuing the digital economy. They will also provide reporting and analysis.

Yat Siu, the founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, was in charge of the merger. The deal’s terms were kept private.

Angie Lau, a former Bloomberg anchor who started Forkast.News, and Randy Wasinger, who started CryptoSlam, will be co-CEOs of Forkast Labs. Forkast.News was created by Sarah Chang, who will be the COO of the new company.

“This merger comes at a pivotal moment for the crypto industry,” said Lau. “The entire industry has been valued against volatile price movements, which has created a high degree of speculation. Trust in crypto has been eroded as a result, but we have the power to change that with this merger.”

CryptoSlam was made in 2018 and is now a popular place to check the prices of NFTs. Last year, it raised $9 million in a round led by Animoca that was oversubscribed. Crunchbase data shows that Forkast.News was started in the same year and raised a seed round in 2021.
