ECB Postpones The debut Of Its Unified Collateral Managed Service

The European Central Bank has delayed the implementation of its new collateral management system from November 20, 2023, to April 2004.

The new collateral management system (ECMS) will be an uniform system for managing assets used in Eurosystem credit operations as collateral. It will replace the present unique systems of national central banks in the eurozone.

The ECMS is anticipated to assist the Eurosystem, its counterparties, and the market as a whole by harmonizing collateral management procedures and advancing EU financial integration.

According to the ECB, the decision was made to alleviate the effect of the four-month postponed introduction of T2, the Eurosystem’s new real-time gross settlement system and central liquidity management model, on 20 October 2022.
