Ex-First Lady Melania Trump Launches Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Platform

Ex-first lady Melania Trump took it to Twitter on Thursday to announce the launch of her non-fungible token (NFT) platform. Solana and MoonPay quick to denounce any official role in the venture.

She wrote in the announcement:

“Excited for this new venture, which combines my passion for art and commitment to helping our Nation’s children fulfill their own unique American Dream.”

The first NFT for sale is a watercolor portrait of Trump’s eyes called “Melania’s Vision,” available for 1 SOL (~ $188 USD), which is available until December 31, 2021.

She also has plans to release more NFTs in January 2022 and will allegedly donate some of the proceeds to children aging out of the foster care system.

MoonPay and Solana Didn’t Seek Partnership with Trump

According to Trump’s press release stated that the crypto payment infrastructure firm MoonPay is facilitating credit card payments for Trump’s NFTs.

MoonPay later clarified on Twitter that is not a partner and has “no official role” in Trump’s new NFT platform.

Also, a MoonPay spokesperson told The Block that “it is not possible to make credit card payments through MoonPay to purchase Melania Trump’s NFT collection.”

Solana Labs has also made it clear that it has not officially partnered with the former first lady.

“I wanted to inform you, to avoid any confusion, that her choice to use the Solana blockchain was completely organic, and this project is not part of any Solana-led initiative,” the representative told Decrypt in a statement.
