FCA Wants Feedback On How To Make Governance More Sustainable

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) put out a discussion paper to get people talking and to get different points of view on how to make governance more sustainable in the future.
The FCA’s discussion paper has articles from a wide range of experts that talk about sustainable projects and how the financial industry is changing.
The UK regulator is asking people who are interested to fill out an online form by May 10, 2023 to answer questions about the paper and how the FCA should shape its sustainability practices.
The discussion paper looks at competence and compliance with regulations in the sustainability sector. It is aimed at banks, financial institutions, asset management firms, investment firms, industry experts, and anyone else who is interested.
The director of ESG at the FCA, Sacha Sadan, wrote:
“As a regulator, we are committed to playing our part in the government’s vision for the UK to be the world’s first net zero aligned financial centre. In the Chancellor’s latest remit letter to us, the Government called out the important role the FCA has and requested that we have regard to their ambitions for the provision of sustainable finance and their commitment to a net zero economy by 2050. But creating positive, sustainable change isn’t just about climate change. It’s about looking beyond and considering the wider environmental issues, such as biodiversity and nature, as well as social and governance issues, such as diversity and inclusion, the living wage, fair taxation and supply chains.”
