Grupo Popular, i2c Launch Digital Banking Platform In Dominica

i2c, a provider of digital payments and banking technologies, has partnered with Grupo Popular, a Dominican Republic-based financial institution, to develop digital banking services in the nation.

In a news statement issued on Monday, November 28th, i2c announced its partnership with Qik Banco Digital Dominicano to provide local clients access to next-generation mobile banking services.

As a branchless digital banking resource for Grupo Popular’s clients, Qik will provide both real and virtual Mastercard credit cards and access to i2c’s contactless and digital payment capabilities.

“This neobank is designed for those people who want a different banking relationship, exclusively through their mobile, with more flexibility and benefits by delivering an intuitive and personalized digital-first payment experience,” said Arturo Grullón Finet, general manager and CEO of Qik Banco Digital Dominicano, in the release.

I2c has ventured into digital credit card systems before. Last month, the business launched the Bond Credit Builder Card with the integrated finance platform Bond Financial Technologies.

Similar to the current agreement between i2c and Grupo Popular, the credit card service enables firms to develop customized virtual credit products for people and small enterprises.

“With our credit products being backed by i2c’s agile processing platform, companies can now launch credit programmes with Bond quickly and seamlessly,” Bond Co-founder and CEO Roy Ng said.

According to the report “Bundled Banking Products: How Credit Cards Secure Customer Loyalty,” bank-based credit card platforms are becoming more popular worldwide.

According to the research, 27% of customers who said they did not have credit cards from their significant banks were also interested in obtaining suggestions for the best payment options for certain transactions, whether from their bank or an external platform.
