Latest Cardano Upgrade Increases Its Block Size By 10%

With its latest upgrade Cardano has increased its block size by 10%, from 80KB to 88KB, to improve the blockchain scalability.
After a recent increase in transaction volume, and also to align future growth possibilities, Cardano (ADA) has increased its mainnet block size by 8KB.
Cardano developer Input Output Hong Kong, announced the upgrade that was proposed last weekend and implemented this week.
According to IOHK the scalability upgrade “is the latest in a series of planned network optimizations” for Cardano this year. It will increase the network’s throughput and ramp up the performance of DApps building on the blockchain.
Since the upgrade implementation, IOHK has been closely following the blockchain’s reaction to the update. This will continue for the coming days, and the results will be very important in order to decide the optimal timing for the next upgrade.
With the new improvement Cardano ranks higher in terms of scalability, which has been one of the key improvement areas along with decentralization and security. These three areas together remain to blockchain industry’s key issues. No one network has managed to fully address all three objectives.
IOHK tweeted:
“As the ecosystem grows, we’re focused on delivering the scaling phase of our roadmap; improving speed and network capacity while maintaining security and decentralization.”
Cardano has recently seen a surge in transaction volume. According to Messari data Cardano’s transaction volume in the past year has risen 216%.
