Legaltech Co-founders Of Wise And Monzo Support Robin AI
Tom Blomfield and Taavet Hinrikus want this AI-powered lawyer.
Despite concerns regarding accuracy and personality characteristics, AI is 2023’s top term.
Robin AI, a legal software-as-a-service provider, speeds up and improves contract writing and evaluation.
The business claims its AI, based on private data from 4.5 million legal papers, can generate and negotiate contracts 60–80% quicker and save up to 75% in legal expenses.
Robin AI, founded by former Clifford Chance lawyer Richard Robinson in 2019, is cash flow positive and received $10.5m today from a variety of investors, including some prominent names.
Plural—Wise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus’ VC fund—led the round.
Hinrikus didn’t comment on the investment, but Plural’s founding partner Ian Hogarth said:
“Repetitive legal work is a clear use case for large language models and Robin AI is the leading company to apply this rapidly advancing technology to contract generation and editing.”
Tom Blomfield, Monzo’s co-founder, was also an angel investor.
Coincidence? Unlikely.
London’s fintech angel alumni supporting young firms and entrepreneurs is amazing.
