Mollie Adds Ex-Check24 CEO Röttele To Its Board Of Directors

The payments behemoth has made its third high-level recruitment in the past six months, further accelerating its expansion.

A new member of the supervisory board is Mollie’s latest move to bolster its executive staff, after the hire of a new head of partnerships a few months ago.

Christoph Röttele, formerly the CEO of Check24, has joined the Dutch payments behemoth to help guide and define its future growth.

Over the course of more than six years, Röttele created and oversaw C24 Bank at the price comparison website.

Röttele was formerly a partner at CVC Capital Partners and held many senior and non-executive management positions at the global investment firm Permira before joining Check24.

“I truly believe that Christoph’s extensive background in building and scaling high-growth regulated companies will make an important and valuable contribution to Mollie’s future development,” Mollie’s central committee Chairperson Eli Leenaars said.

He will serve on the board for four years with Leenaars, vice chairwoman Miriam van Dongen, Teun van Rappard, and Muz Ashraf.

Over the past six months, Mollie has hired numerous new senior team members, including Koen Köppen, formerly of Klarna’s CTO, and Michaela LeBlanc Weber, formerly of Worldpay’s VP of partnerships.

According to Mollie CEO Shane Happach, “we look forward to working with Christoph and benefiting from his considerable expertise as an executive and non-executive board member.”

He said, “The addition of Christoph’s specific knowledge of the DACH market will help us to continue to grow our footprint in Europe and further our ambition to simplify complex financial services for companies of all sizes,” he said.
