P27 CEO Paula da Silva Keynotes NextGen Nordics 2023

Paula da Silva, CEO of P27 Nordic Payments, will talk about “P27, the pan-Nordic superhighway: the state of play” in a keynote session. This session will start the day and talk about what P27 is doing that no other region has done before.
Even though the groundwork is being laid for a pan-Nordic payment infrastructure that will make real-time, domestic, and cross-border payments safe and easy. The industry still needs to think about the problems that need to be fixed. The financial services industry must also assess what to expect from P27 and what success means for the initiative and the market.
She will also end NextGen Nordics with a fireside chat called “Can more regulation lead to parallel or alternative structures?” Since PSD2, authorities have focused on consumer protection, data usage, and accessibility in addition to payments.
Since the payment market is likely to get more rules, both in the EU and in the U.S., this session will look at the problems that could come up when rules change quickly. Also, there could be a risk if different structures try to find ways around the rules.
In 2021, da Silva will be named CEO of P27 Nordic Payments. He has worked in the financial services industry for more than 30 years and has led transaction services at SEB. She is well-known in the Nordics, where she will now build the world’s first real-time, cross-border payment system for multiple currencies.
At NextGen Nordics 2022, da Silva talked to Finextra TV about the place of P27. She said:
“We can expect standardisation, the start of that. That is the most important thing for a corporate where you have hundreds of projects and products that you are actually adhering to today that you possibly don’t need. In the future you need a simpler environment that is standardised so that you can work cross border, cross currency, and actually cross product.”
She carried on:
“You should be able to cross over as you need it for your business model, not to adhere to legacies from the 50s and 60s. So, that is the promise to the market. It will take a few years obviously.”
