Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is adding technology from PopID that checks a person’s face to its POS and self-service products.
Using AI-based facial verification software, PopID’s PopPay technology lets customers prove their identity before paying.
Toshiba wants to sell this technology to its customers in restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores, and other retail sectors.
The Toshiba Pro-X Hybrid Kiosk will be one of the first places where biometric cameras from PopPay will be used.
When a customer opts in, they can use the Pro-X scanner to scan items and then click the PopPay button on the screen to examine their face. Then, PopPay verifies your loyalty and payment without a card or phone.
