Revolut Begins Offering Credit Cards In Ireland

With its growing list of banking products, the fintech has won over more than 40% of the Irish people.

Revolut is starting to give its more than 2 million customers in Ireland credit cards.

The fintech company opened a bank in Ireland last March. Since then, it has added a number of features for Irish customers, such as its “responsible payment instalments product” Pay Later and “Loans” up to €30,000.

The company says that the new credit card is made with “transparency, control, responsibility, and rewards” as its main goals.

“We’re delighted to add Revolut Credit Cards to our financial superapp, giving our customers in Ireland more control and flexibility over their personal finances in a responsible way,” Revolut Europe CEO Joe Heneghan said.

“We’ve developed the technology to provide Credit Cards to approved customers with limits tailored to affordability, so they can get the credit they need, when they need it.”

Revolut uses open banking to check a customer’s ability to pay and says that those who are eligible are approved “immediately.”

Customers can apply directly through the app, and there is no interest for the first three months as long as they make a minimum monthly payment. They can also get 1% cashback for the first three months (up to €30) and 0.10% cashback forever after that.

The credit limits range from €500 to €10,000, and there are no annual fees, over-limit fees, or returned payment fees.

The launch of credit cards comes after it was reported that the fintech made a quiet launch to a small group of customers in Ireland who were testing out joint accounts a few weeks ago. It hasn’t been announced when this will launch fully, though.
