Sotheby’s Will Auction A Lot Of 104 CryptoPunks In 1st Live NFT Auction

English art auction house Sotheby’s announced that it will auction off 104 CryptoPunks, one of the most popular non-fungible token (NFT) collections.
The auction will take place in New York on February 23, 2022 at 7:00 PM EST. It marks the auction house’s first dedicated live evening auction for NFTs, according to Sotheby’s. Attendees will also receive a VIP Punk Dinner and live party with a DJ named SeedPhrase.
In September of 2021, Sotheby’s auctioned off 104 Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs for $19 million, surpassing Sotheby’s expected sale range of $12 million to $18 million.
The upcoming sale is titled “Punk It!” and will be part of Sotheby’s “Metaverse,” a series of NFT sales that began last October.
The lot of 104 NFTs is expected to sell for between $20 million and $30 million, according to various estimates. The 104 NFTs represent about 1% of the total supply of CryptoPunks.
Last year Sotheby’s sold a CryptoPunk in June 2021 for $11.75 million as part of its “Natively Digital” collection. It also sold five hand-signed prints of CryptoPunks NFTs in July 2021.
