Swiss Investigators Look Into The Year 2022 Credit Suisse Data Leak

Swiss prosecutors have started a criminal case against the people who were behind the 2022 leak at Credit Suisse. This leak revealed information about the accounts of wealthy people who were allegedly involved in a lot of illegal activities.
The leak happened in February of last year and involved more than 18,000 Credit Suisse accounts that had been open for decades. The accounts belonged to people who were suspected of torture, drug trafficking, money laundering, and corruption.
The information was given to the German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung, which shared it with other media outlets around the world. This caused a dirty money scandal at the bank.
Federal prosecutors are investigating after receiving a formal complaint, even though no one knows who leaked. The local newspaper Tagesanzeiger says that the person who filed the complaint was Credit Suisse.
Bank secrecy violations and disclosing private business information to foreign entities or their agents are among the charges.
At the time of the leak, the person who leaked the information said in a statement:
“I believe that Swiss banking secrecy laws are immoral. The pretext of protecting financial privacy is merely a fig leaf covering the shameful role of Swiss banks as collaborators of tax evaders.”
