Thales Introduces The Voice Payment Card For The Visually Handicapped

A “Voice Payment Card” has been made available by Thales to assist those who are blind or visually handicapped in purchasing at the register.

Users need to download a particular app linked to their phone card to benefit from the innovation. The smartphone app vocalizes the transaction amount each time a user makes a payment before allowing them to confirm it with their secret code.

The card is a networked device that receives the transaction amount from the point of sale terminal and transmits it through Bluetooth to the mobile app. The consumer may listen to the information using earbuds or the phone’s speaker.

The card, created in collaboration with the French FinTech Handsome, has received Visa and Mastercard certification and “is about to be commercialized soon by several banks.”
