The Philippines Has The Best Banknote Of The Year

The Philippines 1000 Piso was named the best new banknote of the year. It shows an endangered Philippine eagle and a holographic picture of the country’s national flower, the Sampaguita.

The International Bank Note Society gives out a yearly award. The 50 Pound bill from Northern Ireland, which shows plants, animals, and workers, and the 100 Pound note from Scotland, which shows Sir Walter Scott and Dr. Flora Murray, were both runners up.

The Philippines 1000 Piso note has the same design on the back as the previous one. It shows Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a map of the country, and a South Sea pearl.

Even though the note has been praised around the world, it has caused trouble in the Philippines. The relatives of the three World War II heroes who used to be on the front were so against the new design that the central bank will keep printing both versions for the time being.
