The Pixel 9 series is distinguished by its refined design and improved durability. The new models feature a sleek, sculpted look with a prominent camera bar and updated finishes, including a silky matte glass back and polished metal sides. Notably, these phones are reportedly twice as durable as their predecessors, the Pixel 8 series.
“We’ve designed the Pixel 9 phones to not only look stunning but also to feel incredibly premium and robust,” said a Google spokesperson. The Pixel 9 Pro is available in two sizes: 6.3 inches and 6.8 inches, while the Pixel 9 features a 6.3-inch Actua display, which is 35% brighter than the previous generation.

A significant highlight of the Pixel 9 series is the introduction of the Google Tensor G4 chip. This new processor enhances phones’ performance by efficiently running advanced AI models. “The Tensor G4 chip represents the pinnacle of our AI technology, designed to make your device smarter and more responsive,” stated a Google representative. Each Pixel 9 model is equipped with significant memory upgrades, with the Pixel 9 boasting 12GB of RAM and the Pro models featuring 16 GB.
Innovative AI Features
The Pixel 9 series introduces several exclusive AI-driven features. Gemini Live enables natural, conversational interactions with the AI assistant, enhancing user experience by allowing free-flowing dialogue. The Pixel Studio app offers a creative canvas for generating images from text prompts, while Pixel Screenshots helps users easily organise and retrieve information from screenshots.

Google has also added Satellite SOS to the Pixel 9 series, allowing users to contact emergency services via satellite, even without cellular coverage. Additionally, the new Call Notes feature provides private summaries and transcripts of phone calls, enhancing convenience and privacy.

The Pixel 9 series is now available for pre-order. The Pixel 9 starts at $799, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are priced at $999 and $1099, respectively. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, featuring a foldable design, is priced at $1,749.
