Thunes Opens A New Office In Beijing

As part of its plans to grow in China, Thunes, a payments infrastructure fintech company based in the UK, has opened an office in Beijing.

It is the first thing the company has filed in China, and CNY100 million has been put into it.

Thunes wants to hire 60 people in the first year, which would be twice as many as they have now.

Thunes says that the move shows that the company is committed to “empower[ing] Chinese businesses and consumers by making transactions with key international markets faster and more affordable.”

It also shows that the Chinese government wants to make Beijing a center for financial technology.

“The establishment of Thunes China is another achievement of Beijing in terms of its development and opening up of financial industry,” said LI Wenhong, director-general of Beijing municipal bureau of local financial regulation and supervision. “This will further promote Beijing’s efforts in developing into a leading fintech hub globally.”
