Twitter Will Use eToro To Provide Crypto Trading

Through a partnership with eToro, Twitter is advancing Elon Musk’s goal of turning it into a financial super app.

You can already use Twitter’s “cashtags” feature to see real-time trading data from TradingView. When you look for trading symbols, an API brings up the dollar price of stocks.

A spokesperson for eToro told CNBC that the agreement will allow Twitter cashtags to cover a lot more instruments and asset classes and give users access to a trading platform where they can buy and sell shares.

“As we’ve grown over the past three years immensely, we’ve seen more and more of our users interact on Twitter [and] educate themselves about the markets,” Yoni Assia, eToro’s CEO, told in an interview. “There is very high quality content, real-time content on financial analysis of companies and what’s happening around the world. We believe this partnership will enable us to reach those new audiences [and] connect better the brands of Twitter and eToro.”

Since taking over Twitter, Musk has announced aspirations to make it into a financial super app like WeChat. In a nod to PayPal’s early days as X.com, Musk relaunched Twitter as X Corp earlier this week.
