UAE’s E-Commerce Sector To Reach $9.2 Billion By 2026

According to the latest report from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, e-commerce trade in the UAE will reach $9.2 billion by 2026, and it will account for 12.6% of all retail sales in the same year.
The analysis, which used data from Euromonitor, shows that e-commerce sales in the UAE grew dramatically in 2021, reaching $4.8 billion, compared to $2.6 billion in 2019. This is according to the WAM news agency.
According to the report, most e-commerce sales in 2021 will be for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. These sales will be worth $2.6 billion, or 44% of the total value of the e-commerce market.
The study report also said that mobile retail sales are expected to grow at a rate of 15.6% per year from 2022 to 2026, which means that they will reach $4.6 billion.
The analysis showed that more than one-third of UAE consumers use their smartphones to buy something at least once a week, which is more than the average around the world.
The study also said that the growth of e-commerce in the U.S. has been helped by the fact that there are many apps that help people compare prices.
The report said that 73 percent of shoppers in the UAE liked shopping on websites for local stores, while only 27 percent liked shopping on websites for foreign stores.
Between 2022 and 2026, the market share of foreign e-commerce platforms is expected to grow by 19.2%. This would mean that the total retail market share would grow by 34%.
The report also said that the increase in e-commerce shopping in the UAE was due in large part to the improvement and modernization of payment systems and services.
In 2021, consumer electronics like smartphones, phone accessories, computer accessories, tablets, computers, and TVs made up 34% of the e-commerce market. This was followed by apparel and footwear, which made up 31%, food and drinks, which made up 12%, media products, which made up 8%, personal accessories, which made up 5.8%, and consumer appliances, which made up only 3.3%.
