Wise Leads the Way: Apple Pay and Google Pay Now Available in Malaysia

In a groundbreaking move that ushers in a new era of convenience and accessibility in the world of finance, Wise, the UK-based remittance platform, has officially integrated Apple Pay and Google Pay for cardholders in Malaysia. This development marks a significant stride towards making mobile contactless payments more accessible and user-friendly. Wise, which is celebrating its fourth year of operations in Malaysia, is proud to be the first non-bank entity in the country to provide access to these popular mobile payment platforms.

Expanding the Payment Landscape

The integration of Apple Pay and Google Pay with Wise’s services has ushered in an era of seamless mobile payments in Malaysia. Customers can now enjoy swift and contactless transactions by adding their Wise card to Apple Pay or Google Pay on their iOS or Android devices. This means that individuals can effortlessly make payments in-store, online, or within apps. Moreover, the convenience extends to public transport, both locally and internationally, making it easier than ever to navigate and pay for transportation services.

Lim Paik Wan, the Country Manager for Malaysia at Wise, acknowledged the rising demand among customers for the convenience of mobile contactless payments. She stated, “More and more customers want the ease and convenience of mobile contactless payments – and we’re excited to be the first non-bank in Malaysia to offer Apple Pay and Google Pay.”

A Journey of Innovation and Expansion

Wise’s journey in Malaysia began in 2019 when they introduced affordable and rapid money transfers to the Malaysian market. Since then, the company has been dedicated to broadening its product range and introducing region-specific features to cater to its clientele better. Alongside money transfers, Wise has expanded its offerings to include a multi-currency account, prepaid card services, and the capability for customers to transfer funds to 11 additional mobile wallets in Asia, including Malaysia’s Touch ‘n Go.

Integrating Apple Pay and Google Pay is another stride in Wise’s commitment to enhancing the user experience. It aligns with their overarching mission to build a financial ecosystem without borders, making the world’s financial transactions faster, cheaper, easier, and more transparent for individuals and businesses.

Enhancing User Experience

Customers can add up to three digital cards to Apple Pay or Google Pay besides the physical Wise card. These digital cards provide an extra layer of security, with unique card details for each, and they can be frozen after each purchase, adding a layer of protection to the transaction process.

Furthermore, customers can manage their spending efficiently by utilising different cards for various expenses. The Wise card allows customers to hold and spend in over 40 currencies at the mid-market exchange rate without incurring foreign transaction fees. This feature empowers Wise cardholders to make international payments efficiently and transparently.

Conclusion

Wise’s integration of Apple Pay and Google Pay in Malaysia represents a significant milestone in the country’s financial landscape. It not only meets the growing demand for mobile contactless payments but also showcases Wise’s unwavering commitment to improving the economic experiences of its customers. As Wise continues to break new ground in financial innovation, it brings us closer to a world where money knows no borders, and transactions are faster, cheaper, easier, and more transparent for all.
