Worldline Is Buying Business Acquisition Services Of Banco Desio

Worldline, a French payments behemoth, is expanding its position in Italy by purchasing Banco Desio’s merchant acquiring business for around EUR100 million.
Worldline is also establishing a business agreement with Banco Desio, using the Italian bank’s network to market merchant payment goods and services.
The merchant acquiring portfolio provides payment solutions to over 15,000 businesses and generates approximately 40 million transactions annually.
This transaction follows Worldline’s purchase of Axepta Italy earlier this year and the formation of the Worldline MS Italy joint venture.
Gilles Grapinet, CEO, Worldline, says: “This operation is fully in line with our strategy to further expand our Merchant Services activities towards the South of Europe and in particular in Italy, a highly attractive and strategic market for Worldline”.
