Europe’s First Spot BTC ETF Eyes 2023 Set To Launch After A Year Wait  

 Jacob Asset Management got endorsement from the Guernsey financial operator in October 2021 and was launched on Euronext Amsterdam Exchange in July 2022. 

Europe’s first spot Bitcoin exchange traded fund (ETF) was set to launch at the end of last year after a long wait. Jacobi Assets Management, the Bitcoin ETF, a London based multi-assets investment platform, was set to launch on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange on July 2022. 

Although, unrivalled market condition due to bankruptcy of the Terra ecosystem in May 2022, along with FTX crash in November, compel the asset manager to delay the listing. The Jacobi Bitcoin ETF got licensed from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) to initiate its Bitcoin ETF in October 2021. 

The asset manager briefed the Financial Times that it has concluded to initiate the ETF, because it has observed a continuous shift in demand in comparison to 2022. Cointelegraph was reported by the asset manger that it is yet estimating the debut and would share the date soon.  

The Jacobi Bitcoin ETF is a centrally expanse crypto-backed financial instrument with guardianship assisted by Fidelity Digital Assets, a crucial shift from typical exchange-traded notes (ETNs). All crypto backed conventional instruments were built as ETNs, in Europe, instead of funds.  

The crucial difference between ETN and ETF, ETF shareholders possess a part of the fund’s prime assets, while investor posses’ debt security in ETN. ETFs, in comparison with ETNs, cannot benefit or utilize derivatives, which in other way could lead to market employ risk. 

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has abandoned all spot Bitcoin ETFs to date, while in October 2021, Europe has passed its first spot Bitcoin ETF. Although, about half dozen institutional giants, like BlackRock and Fidelity, have filed spot Bitcoin ETF requisitions with the expectation of becoming the first US ratify spot BTC ETF, just in 2023. The SEC has passed few future Bitcoin ETFs in 2021 so far.
