Metaverse And NFT Trademark Applications Are Filed By Visa

In relation to the metaverse, non-fungible tokens, and digital currency wallets, Visa has submitted two trademark applications.

The world’s largest payments company submitted the applications to the USPTO earlier this month.

The application mentions: “Providing virtual environments in which users can interact for recreational, leisure or entertainment purposes accessible in the virtual world.”

It also defines “non-downloadable virtual goods; specifically a collectable series of non-fungible tokens” and software for “management of digital transactions; use as a digital currency wallet and storage services software; use as a cryptocurrency wallet; and administration and verification of cryptocurrency transactions using blockchain technology.”

Visa is following in the footsteps of Mastercard and American Express, both of which have previously submitted trademark requests for the term “metaverse”.
